Error “Cannot add the specified assembly to the global assembly cache” When Deploying SharePoint 2010 Solutions From Visual Studio

When you get the error message “Cannot add the specified assembly to the global assembly cache” while deploying SharePoint 2010 solutions from Visual Studio the solution is to kill the process “vssphost4.exe”.

That’s Visual Studio 2010’s 64-bit host process to execute SharePoint commands and a new instance will be created when you press F5.
